Y2 Day 275 – Matt 15; Is 63-64

Matt. 15

How did the Canaanite woman express her faith? How can you express your faith in similar ways?  I think that Canaanite woman’s faith went a step farther than mine tends to.  I don’t have a problem believing that God can.  It’s believing that He will or that He wants to that I struggle with.  Yet even after Jesus told this woman that His ministry was not intended for her, she humbly believed that God cared about her and wanted to do good for her.  Having faith in God’s ability is one thing.  Having faith in His character takes it to another level.

Is. 63-64

I can’t help but think of Jesus’ crucifixion when I read the first part of Isaiah 64.  “For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.” (Is. 64:3).  Jesus’ crucifixion was certainly unexpected and absolutely awesome.  And Matthew’s account of the moment of Jesus’ death tells us the mountains trembled.  “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.  The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open.” (Matt. 26:51-52a).  Truly, “no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.  You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember Your ways.” (Is. 64:4b-5a).
