Josh. 16-17
I mentioned yesterday that God gave us a good example in Caleb on how to live out our faith. Today, I see that He also gave us a good example of how not to. Joseph’s descendants needed more space. They acknowledge this was due to God’s blessing on them. Yet when Joshua gave them a solution, they made excuses. Boy, can I relate! Joshua’s response seems like a good formula for me to follow when I find myself in similar situations of struggling faith. Understanding that God is the reason for it all, Joshua reminded them, “you have…you will…you can.” (from Josh. 17:17-18).
Josh. 18
“How long will you delay going out to take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, gave you?” (Josh. 18:3). Funny how the passage of time tends to dull our focus, our motivation, our commitment, and our faith. We grow complacent and content with the wrong things. Then we settle for something far less than what God had in mind for us. Lord, help me to keep fighting faithfully until the job is done, knowing that the battle is yours.
