Ps. 11
David tells us how to get it right in this Psalm. Though he did hide in the mountains and caves, he knew that those mountains were not his refuge. It was not the caves that offered him safety from the wicked. There is no security except in God.
Ps. 59
There must be something ambiguous about Psalm 59:9-10 because translations vary quite a bit in interpretation. I like the way it comes across in the CSB translation, though. “I will keep watch for you, my strength, because God is my stronghold. My faithful God will come to meet me; God will let me look down on my adversaries.” Something about how that is written makes me think of waiting for our Messiah, our God who comes to meet us. He came to us first in human form as the man Jesus. And He will come to us again in His full glory. Until He does, we watch and wait because He is our stronghold.
