Ps. 6

“For there is no remembrance of You in death; who can thank you in Sheol?” (Ps. 6:5).  The worst thing about death is being separated from God.  What a dark place where there is no thought or praise of God!  Thankfully, God did not leave us there.

Ps. 8

Jesus is God in human form, come to earth as a helpless infant to silence the enemy and the avenger.  This Psalm tells the story.

Ps. 9

If the worst thing about death is not being able to think about, praise, thank, worship, or in any way honor God then that must be the best thing about life.  If that is the best thing about life, I would do well to not take that for granted.  Let me lift up my voice with David and say:  “I will thank the LORD with all my heart; I will declare all Your wondrous works.  I will rejoice and boast about you; I will sing about your name, Most High.” (Ps. 9:1-2).

Ps. 10

The wicked don’t acknowledge God.  Therefore, they believe there is no accountability for the way they live their lives.  They fail to understand that when they choose to separate themselves from God this way, they choose death.  And once again we see that there is no remembrance of God in death.  There is no thanksgiving, joy, or praise.  Instead, “Cursing, deceit, and violence fill his mouth; trouble and malice are under his tongue.” (Ps. 10:7).  Our lips really do reflect what’s in our hearts!
