Day 56 – Lev 3-5; Mark 5:21-43

Lev. 3-5

Oy!  So many different sacrifices and so many detailed instructions for each!  I feel like most, if not all, of these details must have some meaning or significance.  Many of the specifics are the same for the different types of offerings, but there are a few details that differ for some.  A couple of things stuck out to me in this bloody mess. First is the use of female animals for sin offerings for the common folk, while using males for leaders and priests. And second, not consuming what was left of the sin offering, as was done with other offerings (it was, instead, burned up outside the camp).  I also find it interesting that God commands that the people eat neither the blood nor the fat.  What any of this means and how it applies to God’s presence in my daily life, I have no idea, but it is none the less interesting.

Mark 5:21-43

So…the woman with the hemorrhage…I wonder why Jesus called her out?  Surely she is not the only one who touched Him to be healed.  I also find it interesting that He told her to “go and be healed” when she was already healed.  Perhaps it had something to do with her standing before Him and telling Him “the whole truth.”  And perhaps, when Jesus told her to go in peace and be healed of her disease, He meant more than just the hemorrhage.  I don’t know for sure, but it speaks to my willingness to be completely honest before God and that sometimes my needs go deeper than what it seems on the surface.
