Josh. 16-18
I stand corrected – Jerusalem was actually one of Benjamin’s cities (should have known that, as that is why Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem when she was pregnant with Jesus for the census). However, Benjamin was one of the two tribes that became Judah after the other 10 tribes of Israel split, so Jerusalem was still technically a part of Judah. Which may be why the Jebusites were mentioned as not being driven out by Judah rather than by Benjamin.
Luke 11:1-28
Jesus on more than one occasion encourages us to be persistent in prayer. I’m not sure I understand why. If God knows what we need before we ask, and if He is and does above and beyond what a good human father would do, then why are we to ask at all, let alone persistently? I don’t seem to have as much of an issue with the persistence concept when asking something for others. But especially when I am dealing with my own needs / desires, it is harder for me to grasp. I am far more the type to sit back, keep my mouth shut, and wait for God’s provision or direction. Not saying I sit around and do nothing, expecting God to act on my behalf, but that I do my best to walk in obedience to Him and try to be content with whatever He provides along the way. There must be a purpose for the persistence, but it often feels like impatience to me.
