Day 14 – Job 14-16; Matt 10:1-20

Job 14-16

Every now and then, I just don’t have much to say. Job is one big series of long, repetitive rants, and today’s reading is no exception – more accusations of Job’s unrighteousness, but Job maintains that God is attacking him without cause.  God remains silent, as He sometimes does, leaving us to grapple with our faith.

Matt. 10:1-20

“Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”  (Matt 10:16)  I think most Christians forget the “wise as serpents” part – the part that does not leave peace with those who will not accept it; the part that shakes the dust from their feet when they are not received.  Where does Jesus say that we need to make those who flat out reject Him feel comfortable and included?  I don’t see it.  Ours is but to carry the message; the outcome is God’s.
