Day 18 – Job 25-27; Matt 12:24-50

Job 25-27

So many words…and the point of them all is rather lost on me.  One thing I do get is that Job’s friends were of no help or encouragement to him at all.  I also get that Job is steadfast in his declaration that he did nothing to deserve his current suffering.  All the other flap about God’s greatness, man’s unrighteousness, and the fate of the wicked is all fine and well, but I am at a loss as to how it all plays into a coherent argument for or against anything here.

Matt 12:24-50

Jesus was very often quite plain in telling the people who He was, but they refused to hear it.  “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you” (Matt 12:28) – plain.  May I always be willing to set aside what I want to see and hear and believe and be open to God’s Truth!

Another good thing to remember is, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matt 12:34b) and, “people will give account for every careless word they speak” (Matt 12:36b).  This is why it is important for me to hide God’s Word in my heart, that my words might flow from His abundance.
