My Daily Scripture Musings Faith Day 22 – Job 34-35; Matt 14:22-36

Day 22 – Job 34-35; Matt 14:22-36

Job 34-35

Why is Elihu so mad?  He seems to be saying pretty much the same thing all the others are saying.  Job’s friends are not all wrong in what they say, but they are making assumptions about God based on what they think is right and true – this does not seem to be a good thing!  In a way, perhaps Job has done something of the same thing, but at least he admits he does not understand.  He knows the hardship that has fallen on him was not deserved, and he is rightly confused, yet he does not betray his God.  But I think all of Job’s friends have betrayed Job.

Matt. 14:22-36

“…O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matt 14:31b)  Why do I doubt?  I see who God is; I see what God can do and has done…so why do I doubt?  And yet it seems to be built into us.  Even his closest disciples, who were with him daily, doubted.  And we, who have God’s story, do likewise.  Would that I could fully believe what I believe!!
