My Daily Scripture Musings Faith,God's Sovereignty Day 24 – Job 38-40; Matt 15:21-39

Day 24 – Job 38-40; Matt 15:21-39

Job 38-40

What I get out of God’s response to Job thus far…Job, you are not God! (…and neither am I!)

Matt. 15:21-39

This is the second time that Jesus has marveled at the faith of a Gentile (the Roman centurion was the other).  Jesus is not being cruel here, He is merely following God’s plan, which was always to the Jew first, and then to the Gentile.  But this woman doesn’t let that deter her.  How often do I let excuses and perceived obstacles stand between me and God?

This is also the second time Jesus feeds a crowd with next to nothing.  How does the disciple’s response to Jesus compare with that of the Canaanite woman?  Even after seeing Him feed the previous crowd, they ask the same question – they focus on the perceived obstacle.

Why is it so hard for us to simply give what we have to God and trust Him to do what is needed with it?  Why is it so hard for us to realize that if all we had were the crumbs from God’s table, it would be more than enough?
