2 Chron. 7-9
Wow – this whole Temple dedication was an astronomical affair! 22,000 oxen? 120,000 sheep? I can’t even fathom it! And it says again that the glory of the LORD filled the Temple so the priests couldn’t even enter it. And there was the music…always the music when giving thanks and praise to God. So what does any of this have to do with me? To be honest, it makes me realize just how very small I am. I can’t even comprehend the greatness of Solomon’s Temple and its dedication ceremony, let alone the greatness of the God for whom it was made and to whom it was dedicated! And what is so amazing about that is that this great God cares so deeply about one so small as me.
2 Cor. 2
God’s truth is life to some and death to others. As Christians, we are not trying to sell God’s truth to anyone, we are merely allowing it to spread through us. Paul describes it as a fragrance. Interesting. We ‘wear’ Christ, something like a perfume (one that never wears off, of course). Some smell it as a life-giving fragrance and others are repulsed by it. How strong is the fragrance of Christ in me? Can others smell it? Good or bad, I sure hope they can.
