Deut. 11-13
With all the amazing things the people of Israel saw God do for them and with all the amazing promises He gave them for good, to take care of them and prosper them, still they could not hold fast to Him as their one and only God. Since “they” are “us”, the same holds true for us. But thank God He knew all of this would not be enough for us; thank God He knew we could not be faithful on our own; thank God this wasn’t His plan, but merely His very graphic demonstration of our need. Thank God for Jesus.
Luke 4:31-44
I think it is worth noting that all of the demons knew that Jesus was the Christ. Knowing is not enough, right? Knowing is just the first step. If that knowledge does not lead to understanding of Jesus’ purpose and that understanding does not produce wisdom to live a surrendered life, it is worthless.
