Y2 Day 273 – Matt 13; Is 59-60

Matt. 13

What is the meaning of the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl? How would that change your life today?  I think too often I don’t recognize what a great treasure I have in salvation.  How is it that I was blessed to have fertile soil in my heart into which God’s seed of truth could thrive?  When I really stop to think about it all, I am overwhelmed.  And it makes me wonder why I ever make a single decision that gives preference to this world and my fleshly desires over God’s kingdom.  Should I not, like the men who found the hidden treasure and the pearl, willingly sacrifice everything else I think I have and grab hold with all that I am of that great treasure?

Is. 59-60

What was God’s solution for Israel’s sin?  Boy, do I ever see today’s culture in Isaiah 59!  The lies and empty arguments, the callous shedding of innocent blood, and the pursuit of evil schemes.  Wickedness is everywhere!  As bad as it is, though, it is sadly nothing new.  It is simply the nature of man on full display.  To be honest, seeing the reality of it all around me makes me appreciate God and what He has done that much more.  Because we were incapable of righteousness, God offered His own righteousness for our salvation.  “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins” (Is. 59:20a).  Jesus, our Redeemer, is the righteousness for those who humble themselves before Him in repentance.  And God has promised that His Spirit and His Word will never depart from us.  How grateful I am!
