Ps. 108

I like the wording of Psalm 108:6 in the CSB.  It says, “Save with your right hand and answer me so that those you love may be rescued.”  Written that way, it sounds like another prayer of Jesus, spoken in His darkest hour on our behalf.  And God came through.  He rescued Jesus from the grip of death, resurrecting Him from the grave so that His salvation might extend to all who believe in His name.  Amen!

Ps. 109

More images of Jesus on His way to and on the cross.  “They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause.  In return for my love they accuse me, but I continue to pray.” (Ps. 109:3-4).  That second part really gets me.  There Jesus was, engaged in the greatest act of love ever, while the horde around Him mocked, accused, and cursed.  What did He do in response?  He continued to love them.  He continued to pray.  Knowing that Jesus lived His life not just as a sacrifice for me but also as an example for me to follow makes this verse hit even harder.  Jesus told us to love our enemies.  Which means that even when they repay our love with evil, we continue to love and pray.

Ps. 110

This Psalm is God’s promise to demolish evil through Jesus Christ, His forever priest.  Jesus quotes part of this Psalm to the Jewish leaders, and the author of Hebrews writes about it as well.  It is God’s declaration; His unbreakable Promise.  And it is the foundation of His new covenant through Jesus, our Messiah.
