Funny thing about evil – it is never content to be alone. It seems misery really does love company. Those who pursue the wickedness of the flesh are rarely ever content to live and let live. They somehow feel the need to draw others down with them or, at the very least, to impede others from seeking God. God wrought plagues on Pharaoh because he refused to let the Israelites serve God. Everyone who denies God will suffer His judgment. But God shows us through Pharaoh that those who try to prevent God’s people from serving him face more severe judgment. As Jesus said, “…whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matt. 18:6).
Luke 13
We don’t have to do anything special to deserve death. We already deserve it, just from the simple fact of being human. Our hearts are unrighteous from the start. This is the truth in Jesus’ words, “…unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Lk. 13:5). Praise God that Jesus came to change our fate!
Job 28
Man cannot find wisdom on his own. That’s because wisdom does not exist outside of God. If anyone desires wisdom and understanding, they must fear the Lord and depart from evil.
